the artist
Chino Yulo, making a mark in Philippine contemporary visual arts, showcases unwavering commitment in his diverse sculptural explorations. Using materials like wood, metal, and acrylic, his works resonate with the wonders of nature and convey abstract expressions of thought and feeling. Yulo’s visual philosophy, rooted in flow and balance, is masterfully reflected in intricate tabletop pieces and large-scale installations, forging a profound connection with the natural world.
Before sculpting, Yulo navigated diverse professions—from furniture maker to scuba diver. His childhood sculpting experiences laid the foundation for his artistic journey. Breaking into the art scene in 2019, he has since held four solo exhibitions, including Marahuyo (2021) and Depth (2022) at Pintô Art Museum, and Vast at 1335 Mabini and Sugbo at Visayas Art Fair in 2023.
In 2024, Yulo will unveil new works at Maison Et Objet in Paris, expanding his global influence. He will also participate in Art Fair Philippines and hold his sixth and seventh exhibitions at Pintô Art Museum and Qube Gallery, respectively. Yulo’s artistic reach extends to commissions for private individuals and corporate clients, enriching the accessibility and impact of his evocative vision. Each sculpture embodies a delicate balance between materials and Yulo's artistic philosophy, inviting audiences to appreciate the beauty and wholeness within his creations.
